Opening Betting Odds Out For Potential Khabib vs GSP Fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St. Pierre are not even scheduled to fight yet. However there are now betting odds on that potential matchup.

A bout between Khabib and GSP has been rumored and talked about for a while. Initially Dana White was completely against the idea of the fight, understandably so. As a result, Georges St. Pierre retired from MMA officially, after not getting the fight.

However White has since changed his tune a bit on the idea of booking the match. Following the beating Khabib Nurmagomedov put on Dustin Poirier, White said he would be willing to make the fight. That is, so long as Khabib fights Tony Ferguson first.

Furthermore, GSP recently confirmed his interest in this bout. He explained that if everything lined up correctly, he would return for the fight. On top of that, he has been looking pretty slim lately, like he is looking to drop weight.

All of these developments seem to be enough to spark legitimate interest in the fight. While there is nothing more than speculation at this point, opening odds have been released. Obviously if the bout becomes official, these odds may change, but here they are, courtesy of BestFightOdds:

“Future Events: Georges St-Pierre (+300) vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov (-400)”

So, there you have it, Khabib opens as a substantial favorite over GSP. This is not very surprising, considering the the Canadian’s age. Moreover, when you add in the fact that he is moving two weight classes from his last bout, to a new division to him, and those odds sound about right.

The idea of a fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St. Pierre seems to be gaining momentum. Hopefully Tony Ferguson does not get passed over again, for his much deserved shot at the champ.
