Dana White Shows Interest In Booking Khabib vs Georges St. Pierre

Both Georges St. Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov have shown interest in fighting each other. Now it seems UFC President Dana White is coming around to the idea.

When Georges St. Pierre officially retired from the UFC, he specifically said it was for a reason. He said he and Dana White were unable to come to terms on a fight with lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. Furthermore, GSP said when he retired, that he would come back, but only for that fight.

At first, it seemed the UFC brass was very much against that fight. Rightfully so at the time, considering Khabib had a plethora of solid contenders for that 155lb strap. However it seems that things could be changing, as White seemed to open to the fight after Khabib beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 242.

However things have only progressed from there. In a recent Q & A session on Instagram, White seemed to be even more interested in the fight. Although he does have one condition for the fight to happen.

“Tony fight has to happen first. Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib and obviously if Khabib wins that fight, the GSP fight would be a fun fight to make for sure.”

White goes on to explain that GSP is looking much smaller lately, like he is ready for 155lb.

“I don’t know if you guys have seen pictures of GSP but he’s looking really, really, really f–king skinny right now. He just did like a cleanse or something. He’s in ridiculous shape still but he’s super lean. I think right now he’s ten pounds lighter than Khabib is. Something like that, somebody told me, so that’s pretty crazy.”

The general consensus among fight fans is that Tony Ferguson has to be next for Khabib. However, after that fight, it seems many people would be open to the idea of a GSP fight. If Dana White is to be believed, that could be exactly how things play out.
