Ben Askren is puzzled over what he perceives to be a potential apology from Jorge Masvidal.

Askren and Masvidal had some bad blood going into their July 2019 matchup. The end result was Masvidal earning the fastest knockout in UFC history courtesy of a flying knee. The fight lasted just five seconds.

Despite the bad blood, this feud pales in comparison to the history between “Gamebred” and Colby Covington. Masvidal fell short in his bout with Covington at UFC 272, losing via unanimous decision. Just a few weeks later, he allegedly attacked “Chaos” at a restaurant in Miami and was arrested.

Jorge Masvidal Leaves Ben Askren Puzzled

Masvidal has said it’s “on sight” with Colby due to comments about his kids. Some believe “Gamebred” is being hypocritical due to “bloodline” comments he made about Askren ahead of their fight.

During an interaction with popular content creator Martial Mind, Jorge Masvidal posted a clip of an old interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto where he made it clear he didn’t say he wanted to go after the bloodline of Ben Askren (h/t BJPenn.com).

“Not his bloodline. I said I want to take him out of the reproduction system. So, he can’t reproduce no more. We don’t need no more Ben Askren in this world. Not his bloodline, whatever he’s done already, I don’t mess with nobody’s kids. I wouldn’t dare.”

Askren responded to Masvidal’s clarification with the following:

“Is this an apology or what is this? I’m very confused. Don’t need an apology, you said what you said. I’m tough enough to be ok with it, I have thick skin.”

Askren and Masvidal have shown mutual respect at times after their five-second bout, but other times the two have continued to trade barbs. With that said, things don’t seem to be as heated between the two as they once were.
