Bellator’s newly signed featherweight has been accused of killing a 19-year-old

And it was just Tuesday when MMAJunkie reported that Bellator scooped Rasul Mirzaev, a highly sought-after featherweight hailing from the land of Fedor. In fact, I casually scanned YouTube for evidence of this guy’s MMA prowess while I was in stand-by purgatory at the DFW International Airport. Now Fighter’s Only is reporting that roughly a few hours after his signing hit the MMA world, Rasul Mirzaev was involved in an altercation outside of a Moscow nightclub that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old student.

Today it was reported that Mirzaev is being accused by Moscow police of causing the death of a 19-year-old student in the Russian capital last week.

The student, Ivan Agafonov, was outside a popular Moscow nightclub with friends when the incident occurred. He had with him a radio-controlled toy car and apparently used it to strike up conversation with a woman of Mirzaev’s acquaintance.

A witness claims that when Agafonov jokingly offered the young woman “a lift” in his toy car, Mirzaev interjected. The two then exchanged words before Mirzaev allegedly kicked the toy car to pieces. He then apparently hit the young man one blow with his left hand.

Agafonov was dropped by the punch, which knocked him unconscious. He regained consciousness around 15 minutes later and was initially thought to be fine but then “began raving like a lunatic”. Several hours later, he lost consciousness again and lingered in a coma for four days before passing away on Wednesday.

Just a note for everyone out there who would prefer to get into a Street MMA exhibition match: Leave it to the idiots on YouTube. It can only result in a vortex of bad stuff. [Source]
