A few weeks ago on Sunday Night Fights, someone with the Xbox Live Gamertag “Shlemenko” joined our EA MMA party mysteriously. This Shlemenko character, with a 41-7 ranked match record and a gameface of the real Shlemenko, didn’t speak a single word to us. A bit creeped out, we set up some matches for him and he went on to systematically destroy every single fighter who stepped into the ring with him via a constant barrage of spinning backfists. Only spinning backfists. When the night was over, “Shlemenko” logged off without so much as a single word spoken and we haven’t seen him since.
Now, I don’t really think that was the real Alexander Shlemenko joining in on the EA MMA fun, but maybe, just maybe in a cold Russian cottage equipped with high speed internet and an Xbox…it really was him.
We can dream.
Tonight the Bellator middleweight tournament continues as Storm Shlemenko battles VXRSI fighter Brian “The Predator” Rogers. The Predator is coming off a slick knockout victory at Bellator 50 and Shlemenko is Shlemenko, so the fight should satisfy us all immensely.
