McGregor Could Rematch Khabib in Moscow
The UFC lightweight division is officially the most unpredictable sector if all of MMA. Also, predicting the matchmaking of the division is nearly impossible. First, Khabib says Tony Ferguson deserves the next title shot without a doubt. Next, Khabib voices his dream matchup which consists of facing Georges St Pierre in Africa. Lastly, Khabib’s management said he would never face Conor McGregor again in a rematch. But, now Khabib’s father Abdulmanap says if Conor wants the rematch, he must come to Moscow.
Khabib’s father Abdulmanap doesn’t speak often, but when he does it’s usually about a monumental next step in Khabib’s career. Speaking with a Russian media outlet via Youtube, Abdulmanap stated that Nurmagomedov vs McGregor 2 could be possible. As long as the match happened on Russian soil. Also, the matchup would more than likely happen after Khabib faces Tony Ferguson.
Khabib’s Father Speaks to the Media
“If (Conor) McGregor wants it, then Moscow is waiting for him,” said Abdulmanap. “He (Conor) said once that he has more fans here than Khabib. We want to host him in Moscow, he is welcome …we are waiting.”
While he believes his son is open to the rematch, he also deems the match against Tony deserves priority.
”Because he (Tony) had 28 fights, and runs a 12-fight winning streak in the UFC, just like Khabib. Such winning streaks and such big fights have never happened in the UFC,” said Khabib’s father. “So I think Madison Square Garden is a good place for this fight, but we won’t fight earlier than March.”
Potential Championship Lightweight Matchups
Khabib seems to be getting pulled in every direction as the most sought after lightweight in the UFC. And, for good reason. After all, he is one of the most dominant fighters the organization has ever seen.
Although Khabib’s father has a huge impact on his decision making, at the end of the day, he is his own man. With so many options present for Khabib’s next bout, it’s impossible to determine what it will be. Especially when everyone’s mind keeps changing.
