Ex-UFC heavyweight standout Brendan Schaub has received an absolutely insane offer to take on Derrick Lewis in a bare-knuckle MMA bout.

Schaub has not competed in nearly a decade, but the TUF alumnus has continued to be a major player in the world of mixed martial arts thanks to his presence on multiple podcasts, including Food Truck Diaries and The Schaub Show. Recently, Schaub appeared on another popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, and revealed that Jorge Masvidal had offered him a multi-million dollar deal to potentially fight heavyweight knockout artist Derrick Lewis in a bare-knuckle MMA match.

Speaking about the offer with Joe Rogan, Schaub confirmed that he was immediately dismissive of it, but his friend and co-host of The Fighter and the Kid podcast, Bryan Callen, was so insistent that he take the deal, that Callen reportedly even called Schaub’s manager himself.

“Recently, he was trying to get me to take a fight. And then he even called my manager,” Schaub said. “I was like, ‘Are you out of your f*cking mind?’ It started as a joke when Jorge [Masvidal] came on and Jorge was like, ‘Well we want to offer you a fight.’ I’m like, ‘It’s not happening, dude’ and we’re just joking around. Like I’ll fight another comedian, like Louis C.K. or Tim Dillon, joking around, and he’s like, ‘No, Derrick Lewis is a free agent.

“I’m not… Are you out of your f*cking mind? Bare knuckles with Derrick Lewis, are you out of your f*cking mind? Then they threw out another name like, well I could beat that guy tonight in my shorts. And then afterward the money they were throwing around is insane, dude. They have big-time funders. The money’s stupid. You’re talking multiple seven figures.

“I guess for my ego I think, damn, that’s cool you think I’m worth that. Definitely not, but it’s great, you know. It’s a compliment.”

Brendan Schaub Has No Interest in Mixing It Up With Derrick Lewis

While many fight fans will recognize Bryan Callen from his roles in The Hangover, Old School, and The Goldberg’s, the stand-up comic is a long-time MMA fan and even played himself in the critically-acclaimed 2011 film, Warrior.

“Bryan’s out of his f*cking mind. Do you have any idea… I’d have to halt everything I’m doing,” Schaub continued. “Get in a camp for four months just to get in that fight shape. And then it’s not like I’m fighting UFC like I’m used to which was 10 years ago. Bro, you’re talking bare-knuckle MMA and they want to do it in Denver where they allow head stomps against Derrick Lewis. Are you out of your f*cking mind?”

While it sounds like we won’t see Brendan Schaub step back inside the cage anytime soon, Derrick Lewis has every intention of making one more run at the UFC heavyweight title. Last month, Lewis scored his 22nd career KO with a 33-second shellacking of Marcos Rogério de Lima. Following the bout, Lewis revealed that he was now a free agent, but shortly after, confirmed that his goal is to re-sign with the UFC and make another run at the heavyweight title before walking away.
