54-year-old boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. is making his return to the ring.
Jones Jr. is considered by many to be one of the greatest pugilists in the history of the sport, but he’s preparing to face an opponent like never before. RJJ is slated for a celebrity boxing bout with bodybuilder and social media star NDO Champ. The two men will meet on Friday night for a clash in the Metaverse.
Bodybuilder and NDO Champ, known as Robert Wilmote, has built a substantial following across multiple social media platforms. Even if you aren’t familiar with his name, you’ve likely come across his videos at one point or another.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Roy Jones Jr. admitted that this matchup will be unlike anything he’s ever experienced in his 76-fight career.
“It’s much different than I’m used to. It’s kind of like Godzilla versus King Kong. You know, King Kong being the gorilla, that’s what he kind of reminds me of with all the muscles and he’s such a big dark figure,” Jones Jr. said.
NDO Champ is Ready to Bring the Heat Against Roy Jones Jr.
As for his prediction, RJJ believes he will leave the Metaverse with a victory over NDO Champ. It’s just a matter of how.
“Depends how good of a punch he can take. He can’t take good punch then he goes to sleep. All depends on what happens. I don’t know, I’ve never been in the ring with him. I’ve never seen him box. There’s no film on him. That’s what makes it so different,” Jones Jr. continued. “You don’t know what he’s bringing. You don’t know if he’s gonna be a Mike Tyson puncher or a guy with a lot of muscle that can’t punch at all.”
Of course, NDO Champ sees things going much differently against the former four-division world champion.
“Listen, we don’t train to lose. We don’t train to come in there and play. If that’s the case, I’ll go back doin’ something else, you feel me. No disrespect, I salute the OG, but it’s wartime,” NDO told TMZ Sports. “I’m not coming in there to congratulate you on all our successes, nah, you shouldn’t have gotten in this ring with this man. You shouldn’t have gotten in the ring with me. I’m a born stone killer!”
The event will air on Friday, June 30 at 9 p.m. ET on FITE TV.
