Dustin Poirier believes Jake Paul has some key advantages over Nate Diaz.

On August 5, Paul and Diaz will share the boxing ring inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This will be Diaz’s first pro boxing match and Paul’s eighth. “The Problem Child” holds a pro record of 6-1. He’s trying to bounce back from the lone defeat of his career against Tommy Fury, which took place earlier this year.

Dustin Poirier On Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz

Dustin Poirier is gearing up for his UFC 291 main event tilt against Justin Gaethje this Saturday (July 29). During the event’s pre-fight press conference, “The Diamond” was asked how he thinks Diaz will fare against Paul.

“With boxing gloves, things are different,” Poirier said. “Timing’s different, range is a little bit different, and Jake is a big, athletic, young kid. If I had to put money on it, I would put it on Jake.”

Poirier went on to reveal the key advantages that Jake Paul has over Nate Diaz.

“For sure, I mean, that could happen,” Poirier said. “It definitely could happen. I’ve been around both guys. Jake is a lot bigger than Nate, a lot more explosive, has the money and the amenities and to put the best people around him and really lock himself away and work on the art. He hasn’t been doing it for that long, but all it takes is one punch from a guy like that with that size.”

Paul vs. Diaz will be airing live on Showtime pay-per-view. It’ll be Paul’s fourth fight with Showtime. Both of Paul’s bouts with Tyron Woodley were under the premium sports network, as well as his showdown with UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva.
