- Oscar De La Hoya thinks Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz boxing match could make about 3 million in pay-per-view buys
- The boxing legend would like to promote Diaz if he already has zero ties with the UFC
Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya had seen in it all and based on his forecast, the highly anticipated Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz boxing match could generate millions of pay-per-view buys. The Golden Boy Promotions CEO is also willing to extend a helping hand to manage Diaz’s boxing career.
A big-money fight
Speaking to Inside Fighting, De La Hoya said Paul vs. Diaz has the potential to be a “super fight” and could rake in as much as 3 million PPVs.
“Nate fight with Jake Paul would be massive. I think it could be like a 2.5, 3 million dollar pay-per-views… I think it can be a super fight right with… because both guys know how to fight. They actually can fight. Nate’s a real fighter, he knows boxing and Jake Paul is doing his thing,” De La Hoya assessed.
Just hit me up, Nate
Before the year 2022 ended, Diaz was reportedly removed from the UFC’s active list of fighters. However, De La Hoya wants to ensure that the Stockton native is no longer tied up with the UFC in any way before he promotes him in boxing.
“Nate, if you need a promoter and you need some help, I’m right here more than willing to do whatever. If you need any help, hit me up as long as you’re free from the UFC,” De La Hoya said.
It’s even
De La Hoya isn’t sure about how the fight will play out and the only thing he is sure of is it’s gonna be an “even” match.
“Jake might have more power because he’s just a bigger guy, but Nate has the skill. He’s elusive… he’s experienced. A little awkward and experienced. It’s an even fight,” the boxing icon concluded.
Paul vs. Diaz is set to take place on Aug. 5 in Dallas. It will mark the pro boxing debut of Diaz, who last fought at UFC 279 where he submitted Tony Ferguson in Round 4. On the other hand, “The Problem Child” will try to get back to the win column, having lost to Tommy Fury in his last fight via decision.
