Boxing Superstar Terence Crawford Said He’s Confident That Claressa Shields Would Do Well Against Irishman In Boxing Match

Earlier this week an undisputed middleweight champ Claressa Shields sent shockwaves to the boxing community after claiming that she can beat male fighters and called out big names Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, and Gennady Golovkin.

TMZ recently caught up with welterweight titleholder Terence Crawford and asked him how Shields would perform against them. (h/t Badlefthook)

“She’s confident. She’s confident in her ability and her skills, but that’s pretty much what she’s saying,” Crawford said. “I don’t think she’d really want to be in the ring with those fighters that she called out. But at the same time it just tells you that she’s so dominant in the female boxing world that she needs a man to fight. But I don’t believe she would actually step foot in the ring with those guys. She’s very confident, and it shows in the ring.”

TMZ reporter threw another question at Crawford asking you think Shields might able to beat an amateur fighter like former UFC champion Conor Mcgregor, who made his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

“Man, I’m gonna tell you this. Claressa’s been getting in the ring, sparring men since I’ve known her,” Crawford said. “I feel like she could get in the ring and give anybody problems.”

Terence Crawford said he’s unsure if she can beat Mcgregor in a boxing match, but she’d for sure do well against him.

“I don’t know. Conor McGregor is a man, but at the same time, she would do well against him,” he offered.

Terence Crawford will take on veteran Amir Khan to defend his WBO welterweight championship tonight (Sat., April 20, 2019) from inside Madison Square Garden in New York.
