  • Conor McGregor took a swipe at Canelo Alvarez for asking for a $200 million payday against David Benavidez
  • “Notorious” thinks UFC 306 will beat Alvarez’s upcoming fight in PPV buys on Sept. 14

Conor McGregor blasted Canelo Alvarez for demanding a massive payday to face David Benavidez.

Conor slights Canelo’s marketability

While Alvarez is already booked against undefeated super middleweight contender Edgar Berlanga, he is still being linked to other blockbuster title fights for obvious reasons. In fact, the Mexican boxing superstar has expressed his interest in taking on WBC interim light heavyweight champion Benavidez for a staggering $200 million.

Somehow, McGregor caught wind of the news and wasted no time to take a jab at Alvarez. According to the former UFC two-division champion, Alvarez isn’t worth what he is asking as he couldn’t even generate millions of pay-per-view buys.

McGregor even noted that UFC 306 will beat Alvarez’s upcoming fight with Berlanga in terms of PPV buys on Sept. 14.

“Canelo is a cornflake,” McGregor said. “He has about 300K buys in him. He does not generate nothing near what he seeks to be paid. UFC [306] is going to run them from the strip. Sheik Turki was right moving on. Canelo doesn’t sell.”

Conor has been promoting his brands

Alvarez is indeed, one of the most valuable boxers of this era but there’s also no denying that McGregor has already expanded his wealth. In fact, “Notorious” has been busy promoting his brands as of late.

As a BKFC part owner, McGregor recently made an epic appearance at BKFC 63 and even did a wild promo inside the ring. The Irish MMA superstar chugged a can of his Forged Irish Stout beer which got fans assuming he is no longer serious about making a UFC return.

As for Alvarez, he is set to defend his WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles against Berlanga on Sept. 14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
