Houston Alexander won his most recent BKFC bout on Friday night.
The combat sports world seems to be all in on bare-knuckle boxing. Last month Bare-Knuckle FC pulled out all the stops with their biggest cards ever as fans watched and cheered from the arena and at home. Mike Perry who became the face of the BKFC organization took down former UFC champion Luke Rockhold in the main event of BKFC 41. Rolling from the success of that event, BKFC has held two more events trying to hold onto the attention of fans.
BKFC 43 took place on Friday night at the Liberty First Arena in Omaha, NE. This card featured another former UFC fighter, 51-year-old Houston Alexander. Alexander took on Jeremy Smith in the main event.
Houston Alexander continued his bare-knuckle unbeaten streak at BKFC 43
Alexander has had a long combat sports career. He began fighting professionally back in 2001 and joined the UFC in 2007. He had a short run in the UFC but fans remember him fondly for his KO win over Keith Jardine at UFC 71. Alexander bounced around quite a bit after that, fighting for Bellator, and a few regional promotions. He decided to try his hands at bare-knuckle boxing in 2021, joining BKFC, and has since racked up a record of 4-0.
The fight against Smith was an all-out war with both men looking to end the other’s night early. Alexander looked like the most precise striker in the ring and showcased why he has found so much success in BKFC. Alexander put the pressure on Smith and it showed in the South African’s face. Fans thought that perhaps the fight would be stopped by the doctor but the men were allowed to continue to the final round.
