Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) star Jerald Gregori has passed away at the age of 28.

Gregori has experience competing in multiple combat sports. After starting as an amateur mixed martial artist in 2016, he made a switch to pro boxing. He dropped his first outing in the boxing ring to Lorenzo Caldera and fought one more time before deciding to move to bare-knuckle boxing.

BKFC founder and president David Feldman issued a statement on Gregori’s tragic passing on his Facebook account. While the cause of death is not confirmed yet, it appears that mental health struggles could have had a role.

“Saddened and shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Jerald Gregori. If any one of my fighters ever needs to talk about anything, I am a phone call away. People have issues and get depressed, I will always be there when needed. Talk to someone please. Very sad. RIP Jerald!”

Based on the tributes that came pouring in from family, friends, and supporters, Gregori might have taken his own life.

‘The Grim Reaper’ got off to an unsuccessful start in amateur MMA against Travis Herber in Feb. 2013. He would lose another two outings before securing his first victory over Nathan Ward by TKO in Oct. 2015 at a Fight Force event.

Gregori lost his next bout to Danny Humiston in Jan. 2018 before he got back in the winning column after finishing Richard Kohlman with a rear-naked choke in July 2018. Gregori decided to stop competing in MMA after his final showing against Koda Greenwood. He retired with a record of 2-6 as an amateur MMA fighter after the knockout loss to Greenwood.

Jerald Gregori was scheduled to face Perez at BKFC 34 on December 3rd in Hollywood, Florida.
