Jimmy Crute will not be fighting in 2022.
Surgery
On Monday, the UFC Light Heavyweight revealed on his Instagram that he will be having reconstructive knee surgery and will be out for the rest of the year.
“Absolutely gutted to announce that I will be out for the rest of the year. I need a knee reco,” Crute wrote. “I have been putting this off for years but I have sustained too much damage over the last few fights and it has finally come to the point that if I don’t get it fixed it could turn into a career ending injury.
“I am obviously very disappointed but at the same time a challenge like this is also exciting. It gives me 9+ months to work on other aspects of training and life and come back 100% refreshed and injury free. Thank you all for the continued support. I’m not going anywhere and the Bendigo express is still in full motion.”
A Run Of Bad Luck
It’s been a rough stretch for the Australian.
Crute is riding the first losing streak of his career, being finished twice in a row. In his last outing, he was knocked out in 48 seconds by Jamahal Hill, and before that, he was finished by Anthony Smith after he suffered drop foot at UFC 261.
There is no doubt that Crute is the future of the light heavyweight division at just 25-years old. Thankfully he is getting this knee surgery out of the way to continue and save his career.
