Matt Hughes and Ben Askren had some interesting words for each other on Twitter today

Matt Hughes and Ben Askren. Welterweights, men, wrestlers. They also hail from the middle of America. The similarities pretty much end there for this odd couple. We know Matt Hughes would rather work his land or see an animal breathe it's last breath compared to Ben Askren's consistent need to get funky wherever he goes. And since Matt Hughes is very much a company man, we get why he wouldn't agree with a tweet from Ben 'daring' the media to ask Johny Hendricks if Ben Askren makes him nervous.

As of right now, Ben is in ONE FC, so he shouldn't make Hendricks nervous, but we've been saying for years on MiddleEasy that Ben Askren is the one true king of welterweight, and there's simply no one out there that could defeat him in MMA or disc golf. We stand by those words, damn it. If the UFC actually signed him when he was a free agent, we wouldn't be having these hypothetical discussions (we actually probably would still be having these hypothetical discussions).

So Ben, Matt and Walter White (he didn't die at the end of the show, you and I both know this) had words on Twitter over the subject.

Then Askren dropped the truth bomb:

Fuck Ben Askren's lard ass. Calling Hendricks fat while he's sporting a muffin top at the One FC weigh ins.

I'm sorry, I find it hilarious that he can get away with it when his opponents can't do anything to stop him from imposing his will.

Fedor had a muffin top too, not that he's Fedor or anything.

I know, but Fedor wasn't being a dick. ALL. THE. TIME.

I just hate that pot-and-kettle shit and Askren is full of it.

Well every fight I've seen him fight he won big so when or until someone stomps his ass good he can talk all he wants.
I think if the ufc would sign he would be the champ.
They should sign him for one title fighting

He protects his brand. How bad would it look if a former Bellator Champ lay'n'prayed his way to a UFC title after all the shit Dana White has thrown at Bellator.

No worse than GSP laying and praying to keep his title.

Yep. That's why the bald-headed fat man didn't sign Askren. You know how all of ya'll are saying that Dana is ducking Cyborg for Rousey? It's the same thing with Askren, except, Dana is ducking Askren with the entire UFC's Welterweight division.

Yeah, how do you skin a car , Ben " The brain " Askrew ? You run your mouth so much your brain can't keep up with you. Why not just shut up and work your way to big fight. The reason your not in the UFC is because of your attitude, so grow up and let your hands do your talking.

I don't think so. I think Ben even offered to fight his first fight for free and they still turned him down and told him to go to WSOF.

UFC is just being picky scumbags. They won't pick up a boring fighter even if he wins every fight. They want people who stand and bang, and that's understandable, but this is MMA, and Askren has defeated everyone in front of him. If Weidman can fight for the belt with only 10 fights, there's no reason Askren shouldn't be in the running. Not a fan of his style, but can't blindly hate a guy who hasn't lost. And let's not forget GSP has put on a lot of snooze fests, but he sells in Canada so it's ok.

Askren may have beat them all, but calibre of opponent is still a pretty huge factor. He's a dominant wrestler but he Would lose like that in the UFC if he didn't adjust his style.

Askren can't fight who you think he should fight if Dana is ducking Askren from the entire UFC welterweight division.

How was Ben boring? If you know wrestling and fighting you appreciate his skills..He would also ground and pound and beat the hell out of his opponents while on top...Ben Askren would win...I said years ago he would beat GSP and he would...or hendricks...If Hendricks was a true champ he would go on record and make Dana sign him to fight him...Its really a big laugh...I feel when you are NOT honest karma gets you...I think the UFC is dropping in interest because theyre too many cards and Dana is coddling some fighters.

Christop: Askren would beat GSP?!? BAHAHAHAHAHA! The biggest laugh I had all day, was reading your comment. Askren barely beat Jay Hieron, while Askren is in his prime & Hieron was years past his prime. He won a decision, 25 mins & he couldn't even finish Hieron, yet "green" GSP TKO'd Hieron who was entering his prime in the 1st round.

But Askren can beat GSP based on his resume of defeating who again.....?!? Oh yeah CANS! While GSP has humiliated the best of the best WW's for the last 5-6 years, except for Hendricks. But Askren can beat GSP, based on all those huge name fights Askren has defeated. When he actually beats a legit top 15 fighter, I'll pay him some attention, and when he beats a legit top 10 WW I'll even watch him fight, but until then, he's just another undefeated "name" that thinks he's better than everyone else b/c he beat up cans & barely beat fighters out of their prime. But yeah, my money is on him vs. GSP..... LMFAO - STFU noob!

Askren is where he is because #1 - One FC is where the money is right now for the best WW in the world, and #2 - Dana is ducking Askren from the entire UFC WW division.
