If Francis Ngannou does land in the Professional Fighter’s League (PFL), Kenny Florian does believe the promotion’s top heavyweights can hang with the ex-UFC champ. Florian knows what it’s like to compete at a championship level in the UFC, having challenged for multiple titles during his run himself. Now, Florian serves as a commentator for the PFL, and is very intrigued by the prospect of Ngannou landing with the promotion.

Ngannou recently went his separate ways with the UFC after failing to come to an agreement on a new contract. He was the UFC’s heavyweight champion at the time, making his exit all the more dramatic. Now, the UFC has set in place a bout between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane for the vacant strap. As for Ngannou, he’s certainly enjoying the free agency market, looking for his new home.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Florian explained that Ngannou certainly has his pick of promotions in free agency, but in the PFL, he believes there’s a handful of heavyweights who can give “The Predator” a run for his money.

“I think, especially with him coming off knee surgery and potentially doing this big boxing fight with Tyson Fury that they’ve been talking about, I think putting him in the Super Fight division would make the most amount of sense,” Florian said. “Him fighting whoever ends up being the champion for the PFL I think would be really intriguing.

“As far as the heavyweight division, we may not have the same depth as the UFC in the heavyweight division, but I think the top three or four guys in the PFL, I think they can hang with a lot of the top three or four guys in the UFC, no question about it.

“I think a lot of our heavyweights, whether we’re talking about Ante Delija, Bruno Cappelozza – we have a ton of talent in the PFL in the heavyweight division, and I think there’s a lot of intriguing matchups and potential for them against Francis Ngannou.”

Ngannou is currently on a six-fight win streak since suffering the first and only two losses of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Those being to Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis. Since, he claimed the heavyweight throne by avenging his loss to Miocic and successfully defended the title against Ciryl Gane.
