Bellator champion Yaroslav Amosov brought his belt while in battle.

Welterweight king Amosov is currently back in Ukraine serving his country while the war with Russia is going on.

“I took my family to the safe zone. Now I have returned and will defend this country as best I can, with what I can. I love this country, our own,” Amosov said in February. “Russia came to our house and started a war here, many people are dying – innocents, women and children. We have to defend this country, and we succeed, friends. And we will succeed, because the truth is behind us.”

Sharing the belt

On Friday, Bellator and Amosov shared a video as well as a picture of him holding his welterweight title with his fellow soldiers.

Amosov is climbing up a ladder in the video, and he unpacks the belt.

“A belt with a lot of history! Now I won’t give it away, mom safely hid him and he survived the bombing.

When we last heard from the Ukrainian fighter, he gave a very dark update; however, now, he seems to be in better spirits, despite currently fighting in the war.

The champion had to withdraw from his upcoming title fight with Michael ‘Venom’ Page in March.

Bellator’s president Scott Coker addressed the situation in a press release.

“Like the rest of the world, we’ve been shocked by the tragic events in Ukraine and the thoughts of everyone at Bellator MMA are with Yaroslav and all the Ukrainian people during this time,” Coker said. We wish his family the best and look forward to seeing him return safely to happier times, both inside and out of the Bellator cage.”
