The Truth hurts. Brandon Vera once said he would be a two division UFC champion. Fighting in front of a sold out crowd of fellow Filipinos Vera was supposed to take on British kickboxer Chi Lewis Parry but instead got in the cage with four days’ notice replacement Paul Cheng.
In round one both men came out firing before Vera just smoked all the aura out of Cheng. It started with some kicks and it ended up very violently. Head kick into hammer fists was yet another highlight reel finish that Vera has racked up under the ONE Championship banner.
For 26 seconds of work Vera is ONE Championship’s first heavyweight title holder. Up next for Vera is a spot in the Rizin FF Fedor derby? Does the Parry beef get squashed? Vera is a belt holder and still that ultra-violent next gear deep in his core.
