Vicente Luque Earns A Split Decision Over Mike Perry After Three Rounds Of War!
UFC Fight Night 156 is going down tonight (Saturday, August 10, 2019) from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The Welterweight clash between Mike “Platinum” Perry and Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque co-headlines the event. The third man inside the Octagon is Eduardo Herdy. Here we go!
Round 1
Mike Perry lands an early cross. And another one, but Luque survives. Perry kicks then follow with a right hand to the body. Counter-punch for Luque and he connects with a kick.
Head kick Perry, missed, but a low kick lands. Overhand right scores, but Luque fires back with a strong left hand. Overhand Perry, he eats a leg kick but punishes his rival with a jab.
Right cross and flying knee on the fence. Perry goes for a combo and manages to escape the knee attempt. Leg kick Luque, Perry pushes him away with a great Muay Thai teep kick. Leg kick Luque, and now a clinch knee. Overhand Mike Perry, the round ends, 10-9 Perry.
Round 2
Another leg kick for Luque. Head kick attempt Luque, but Perry presses forward and pushes him against the cage. Few knees in the clinch, but the competitors separate. Strong right hand Perry, but Luque counters well too.
Left hands and a right to the body Perry, Luque fires back with a combo. Luque is against the cage, but he circles well and escapes. Stiff left jab, but Luque responds with a strong right hand, this turns into a real slugfest!
Uppercut Luque, straight right punch Perry. The two are landing shot after shot, this is a very close round. Maybe 10-9 Perry, but I am unsure.
Round 3
Luque starts with a few strong kicks, Perry works on his body, few strong kicks. Head kick attempted by Luque, blocked, but he lands a few good leg kicks along the way.
Perry went for a takedown, he was unable to take Luque to the canvas with a single leg despite he caught his leg. Great defense, now Perry attacks with knees to Luque’s legs.
The crowd starts to boo because fighters are in the clinch, and Mike shows a middle finger! Fighters separate, Luque attacks with a flying knee and crushes Perry’s nose! Perry takes Luque down, but Vicente is looking for a guillotine…
Perry is hitting Luque’s body, but too much blood is coming off his nose, he is badly hurt. Perry lands ground and pound strikes, the horn ends the contest. 10-9 Luque.
Final Result: Vicente Luque defeats Mike Perry via Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

Vicente Luque improves the score to 17-6-1 MMA, 10-2 UFC, Mike Perry drops to 13-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC.
