Ketlen Vieira and Cat Zingano squared off for the UFC’s women’s bantamweight bout in the opening round of the main event of tonight’s UFC 222 pay-per-view card in Las Vegas.
Ketlen Vieira put in a dominant performance against Cat Zingano and defeated her via split decision. The undefeated Vieira (10-0) at 3-0 in the UFC.
In the opening round, Vieira immediately lands a right on an attacking Zingano. While Vieira attack with an elbow and Zingano with a kick. They both traded shots. Zingano tries a body lock takedown, but Vieira gets out right away. Zingano lands a Leg kick as Vieira throws. Vieira counters a leg kick with a 2-3. Zingano with the punch-and-clinch. Couple of knees from Zingano and they break apart. Vieira with a nice takedown. Vieira almost getting to mount, but not quite. Bell rings.
In the second round, Vieira put on a quite a show dropping Zingano from the outset with a beautiful throw, then spent the bulk of the round working from top position.
Zingano, who now trains at Alliance MMA, she came out swinging in round three. Zingano with a high kick and scores with a couple of rights. Vieira once again ended up in top position. This ends the game.
Cat Zingano has now dropped three straight fights, with her last win coming over current bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes back at UFC 178.
