WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury wants to make it clear that he is not looking past former UFC titleholder Francis Ngannou.

Fury and Ngannou are due to clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 28. This will be a boxing match scheduled for 10 rounds. “The Gyspy King” will not be defending his WBC gold in the fight. In fact, his promoters have already announced a heavyweight title unification fight against Oleksandr Usyk. Many have perceived this as a slight to Ngannou and a sign that the Fury camp isn’t taking this bout seriously.

Tyson Fury Says He’s Not Taking Francis Ngannou Lightly

Tyson Fury was a guest on “The MMA Hour,” and during the show, he told Ariel Helwani that he’s going into the fight knowing what Francis Ngannou is capable of.

“I’m fighting an absolute killer in Francis Ngannou,” Fury said. “A 6 foot 4 or 5, 280-pound guy who’s come from the streets from wherever he’s from, Cameroon, sleeping on the floor. I read somewhere that he was in Paris eating rats off the street. So, this guy is hungry. This guy has got a point to prove. You think I’m gonna not train for him coming in at like 400 pounds? I don’t think so. I’ve trained as hard for him as I did for any other fighter I’ve ever fought.”

No Rematch Clause For Fury vs. Ngannou

Fury went on to reveal that there is no rematch clause for his fight with Ngannou. The elite boxing heavyweight explained why.

“As we stand today, there’s no rematch clause either way,” Fury said. “If he knocks me out cold on Saturday night, I’ll have to be begging him like this, ‘Please, give me a rematch.’ Just no rematch clause, I hate rematch clauses. Rematch clauses have tied my career up for so long and cost me millions of dollars in court cases. I always say like we don’t need a rematch. If the first fight is good, then boom, the participants would surely want a rematch. If it’s a s*** fight then it’s not deservant of a rematch.”
