Tyron Woodley Reveals Jon Bones Jones Offered His Help For Covington Fight

Outspoken welterweight contender Colby Covington has pissed off many fighters on his way to the UFC welterweight title and had been engaged in multiple public beefs on various fronts. ‘Chao’ doesn’t want to let any of them go, even if it’s a war of words with someone he’s never going to get the chance to fight. Covington’s battles didn’t end there; he antagonized Jon Jones in that fiasco.

Colby started beef with Jon Jones late last year and most recently Covington fires some shots at former UFC light heavyweight champion, whom he had lived during their college years as wrestling competitors. Jones has been rooting for Dos Anjos before his fight against Colby in UFC 225 and offer $50.000 to any fan who would hit ‘chaos’ with a boomerang at the event. However, Covington scored a unanimous-decision win over ex-lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos to claim the interim welterweight championship.

After this win ‘Chaos’ finally gets his chance against champion Tyron Woodley. Covington is known for trying to stir the pot, and he was already setting the groundwork for a matchup with ‘Chosen One’ before this showdown.

“It funny because Jon doesn’t reach out to me very much,” Woodley said. “Jon said, ‘Hey, whatever you need, brother. I want to help you.’ I told Jon, I said, ‘Man, you work so hard for your platform, from actually kicking ass and beating legends in their prime, and being one of the greatest fighters we’ve ever seen. Don’t give him your platform.’

“Because he put a post up about him. I said, ‘I am going to kick his ass so bad, he’s gonna wish he was dead instead,’” Woodley continued. “‘He’s going to try to find a way out.’ I said, ‘So don’t worry about it.’ The dude was like, ‘It can’t happen soon enough.’”

Woodley hasn’t fought since a successful title defense against Demian Maia back in July 2017. Do you think Woodley can get benefit from Jones assistance?
