Twitter Beef: Daniel Cormier Absolutely Dismisses Alexander Gustafsson’s Title Shot, Blasts Him For Claiming an Injury

Nearly immediately follow Anthony Smith’s victory and subsequent call out of Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Hamburg, Alexander Gustafsson’s announced a “minor” injury and that he is off UFC 227 in Los Angeles.

Cue up the UFC’s new baddest man on the planet Daniel Cormier. After their classic battle where Gustafsson took DC to a decision, there have always been rumblings of a rematch. And in recent years, the dialogue between the two has become more and more cold. Alexander is pushing for it constantly, but a lot of people point to the fact that Gustafsson has won two fights in the last three years, against Jan Błachowicz and Glover Teixeira. Not really the type of stuff that get people amped up for a title shot.

And now that Alexander Gustafsson has pulled out of UFC 227 when it looked like he was primed to fight the surging Anthony Smith, Uncle Daniel is a bit disappointed.

How brutal and casual can one man simultaneously be? Daniel Cormier is winding down his career, and he basically looked at what Gustafsson’s been up to and is kinda fed up with his bullshit. With a big payday with Brock Lesnar and his retirement date approaching, I don’t blame Cormier for announcing that a Gustafsson rematch is off the table. Shit at this point, I’m fed up with Gustafsson’s shit myself.

But damn, first the Brock call out and now shutting Alexander’s shit down, it seems like winning that second belt might have been the best thing that could have ever happened to Daniel Cormier’s persona.
