Tom Aspinall has apparently suffered a torn MCL and meniscus following his loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC London.
Tom Aspinall Suffers Torn MCL & Meniscus
Aspinall suffered an unfortunate TKO loss to Curtis Blaydes during their UFC London meeting when the fight was forced to be stopped due to an Aspinall injury.
It was just 15 seconds into the fight when Aspinall apparently begun having issues with his knee. Now, we finally have a better understanding of what exactly Aspinall is dealing with.
Taking to social media, Aspinall revealed that he’s preparing to undergo surgery for a torn MCL and meniscus.
“Today is surgery day. I’m in London right now and I’m absolutely starving because I can’t eat before surgery,” Aspinall said.
“I have suffered a torn MCL, a torn meniscus and some ACL damage, so going to get that fixed today.”
This is certainly a big setback for Aspinall, who is one of the UFC heavyweight division’s brightest young stars. He entered his fight with Blaydes on an eight-fight win streak, unbeaten in the UFC.
His loss against Blaydes was his first defeat since 2016 when he lost a fight via disqualification for an illegal elbow strike.
Hopefully, Aspinall will return to form once he’s back from injury and fully recovered.
