Tom Aspinall was on the brink of his first UFC title fight just over a year ago. Over the past few years, Aspinall was quickly rising up the UFC heavyweight rankings and has become one of the biggest stars in the UK. He headlined both UFC London cards in 2022 and everything seemed to be going his way until his last bout. In the main event of the second UFC London card of the year, Aspinall injured his leg in the opening round of his fight. The bout was called a TKO win for Curtis Blaydes and would be the first loss of Aspinall’s UFC career. He has had to take time off, undergo surgery and change his mindest since the torn MCL.

Aspinall is currently healed up from a knee injury and is looking to get back in  the cage later this year

“Summertime sounds good, basically I’m ready to go,” he said on The MMA Hour. “I could accept a fight right now, definitely. We are going to chat with the UFC a little bit this weekend. We will have a few meetings and stuff and see who is available. Who wants it more importantly. I might have to fight down the rankings a little bit because I was struggling to get matched before this. Or maybe the guys think I’m weak now so hopefully they do and they are going to take some fights. I have stuff to prove now coming off a big injury.”

Tom Aspinall respects Conor McGregor and doesn’t want any beef

Aspinall has been on the receiving end of some social media animosity while he has been healing up. This, however, is not the kind of beef that will lead to a fight inside the cage. Aspinall was called out by Conor McGregor recently due to some criticism he sent McGrgeor’s way. He spoke about this strange feud and how he felt being the subject of one of McGregor’s rants.

“I have so much respect for Conor I would never disrespect him or anybody else,” he said. “I definitely don’t want to have a beef with anybody, I’m an adult. I ain’t trying to beef with nobody. If I’m trying to beef with anyone, I want it to be someone in my division so we can at least make some money off of it… I’m a massive Conor fan, Conor is a massive inspiration for me… I didn’t mean to offend anybody.”

Aspinall has five in a row before suffering an injury in his last bout. He could be a title contender if he can get a fight with a top-five-ranked opponent and get a win on top of that.
