- Tom Aspinall issued a statement on social media following his injury loss at UFC London
- The Brit appeared to have drunk a few beers with his opponent Curtis Blaydes
Contrary to what was expected, UFC London’s main event bout between heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall had no action at all after the fight was ended by a horrible injury.
Just after 15 seconds in the opening round, Aspinall suffered a knee injury that saw him lying down on the canvas while in excruciating pain. Blaydes was then declared winner via TKO.

Drink away the pain
As expected, Aspinall was truly devastated considering how he took London by storm in his last appearance there. Fortunately, he and Blaydes himself found a good way to lessen the disappointment- by chugging huge glasses of beer.
“A beer makes everything feel better,” Aspinall wrote on Instagram. “What a guy, big Curtis and his team popped up to say hello. Freak accidents happen unfortunately, tonight wasn’t my night. Love u all xx.”
What’s next for Tom
At the end of the day, Aspinall is still lucky to be in good spirits following a scary knee injury. As for what lies ahead of him, he’s still likely to be slated for a bout against a top contender but it will depend on the timeframe of his recovery. Until then, Aspinall will just have to wait how things will play out in the heavyweight division.
