- Tom Aspinall thinks Jon Jones has been capitalizing on his fame and is playing around
- The interim heavyweight champ hopes to be included in UFC 304 in Manchester
Tom Aspinall is beginning to get tired of Jon Jones’ shenanigans and is starting to think that the fight is not happening anytime soon.
Jon is playing
Speaking to TNT Sports, Aspinall did not shy away from expressing his real thoughts on Jones and the heavyweight champion’s sudden interest in Alex Pereira over him. The way Aspinall sees it, “Bones” has been playing around and he is not having any of it.
Unfortunately, Aspinall also knows that his dream fight with Jones is also unlikely to happen soon given the lack of progress.
“If we can get old mate Jon to ever sign a contract with my name on the other side of the contract, I’ll talk about him for hours on this show. Hours. But right now, the guy is playing games again,” Aspinall exclaimed. “Trying to convince the public what he wants and what he doesn’t want. Which he does really, really well. As I said, we can chat about Jon, if and when he ever signs a contract with my name on the other side of it. Because right now, let’s be honest, it’s not looking very likely.”
Tom wishes to be included in the UFC’s return to Manchester
With the Jones fight not looking good, Aspinall has set his sights on UFC 304, when the UFC returns to his hometown in Manchester. However, even that has no concrete update until now.
“I wish I was. The last I knew, it was going to get announced this weekend and obviously that’s been and gone now,” Aspinall said about fighting at UFC 304. “… I don’t know. Right now, I have no idea what’s going on. I wish I could come on the show, I wish I could announce on social media, I wish I could start dragging traffic that way, but right now I have no idea. I’m just getting myself prepared for that date. As far as opponents and stuff like that, I don’t know what’s going on right now.”
Aspinall is coming off impressive back-to-back first-round KO/TKO wins. He is eager to face and Jones to solidify himself as the greatest heavyweight fighter in the world, but at the same time, he also doesn’t want to wait for too long.
