This Muay Thai Fight is Just Bonkers

I feel that everyone who watches MMA gets so wrapped up in grappling that they tend to overlook the beauty of striking. The science of eight limbs in its purest form is a marvel to behold, to cherish and to love. Muay Thai has always been pretty obscure, but the advent of YouTube has made it a lot easier to catch some of the best fights from the top stadiums in Thailand the very day that they happen.

The world is getting a lot closer. This fight went down on July 8th at the beautiful new Lumpini Stadium. Sure, people are still butthurt that the original Lumpini Stadium was torn down, but as anyone who has been there can attest to; the old one was really run down and this new one is a welcome change. This fight is between Pornsanae Sitmonchai and Pokkeaw Fonjanchonburi and embodies everything that is awesome about muay thai.

Pornsanae is perhaps best known for being one of the most exciting top level Thai fighters around while Pokkeaw has been earning his reputation as well, with this fight really being one of his breakthrough performances. This fight really needs to be seen to be believed, with the first round starting off a bit slow and then things just getting crazy. I mean, bodies flying over the ring crazy. I’m not making this up.

Fighting is beautiful.
