Stipe Miocic believes he will become a three-time UFC Heavyweight Champion when UFC 295 concludes.

Miocic is set to challenge Jon Jones for the heavyweight gold in the main event of UFC 295. The title fight is set to take place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 11. It’ll be Jones’ first heavyweight title defense and Miocic’s ninth UFC heavyweight title fight.

Stipe Miocic Vows To Reclaim UFC Heavyweight Championship From Jon Jones

Ahead of the fight, Miocic certainly isn’t lacking in confidence. He spoke to Megan Olivi for ESPN backstage at UFC 290. During the interview, Miocic vowed to show the world that he is still the heavyweight king.

“I think that it’s just the two styles,” Miocic said. “Styles make matchups. I think we have two great styles to make electricity, a lot of fireworks. I think it’s gonna be an amazing fight. I’m gonna come out on top and show people that I deserve to be heavyweight champ.”

Miocic hasn’t fought since he was knocked out by Francis Ngannou back in March 2021. Miocic discussed the time off and how it has benefitted him.

“I think just giving my body rest,” Miocic said. “I’m getting older, nothing wrong with that. I mean, I feel great, but I think just letting my body rest.”

Miocic hasn’t been in a non-title bout since early 2016. He will turn 41 years old this August, and many are wondering if he’ll walk away from pro MMA competition if he can’t defeat Jones. If Jones beats him, it would be the first time in Miocic’s career where he’s lost back-to-back fights.

In Miocic’s mind, however, losing isn’t on the table.
