Sonnen didn't take kindly to Fury fighting Ngannou.

Chael Sonnen has no love for Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion’s boxing debut is a super tall task as he will take on ‘The Gypsy King’ on Oct. 28 in Saudi Arabia. The unique boxing bout is set for 10 rounds and Fury’s WBA title will not be up for grabs.

Sonnen Is NOT A Fan Of The Matchup

Not everybody is buying in to this spectacle and that includes the outspoken former UFC title challenger Sonnen.

“It’s the most ridiculous sporting competition of our lifetimes,” Sonnen told The Schmo. “Lemme give you an example. Take the Lakers, the real Lakers, right back when they had the guy named Shaq [O’Neal] and Kobe Bryant, rest his soul. I don’t know if LeBron was ever on that team, but remember when they were really good and you got Phil Jackson as a coach? Take them and go put them against [Tom] Brady and the Patriots, right? You got these great teams, but you’re gonna go do it under football rules.

“Do you see how stupid it is? Do you see why it’s never happened? Do you see why it’s never even been discussed? That’s what’s happening here. This is literally the most ridiculous sporting event of my lifetime.”

Sonnen On Ngannou’s Chances: ‘He’s Already Done The Hard Part’

No matter how ‘ridiculous’ Sonnen believes this boxing match to be, he’d speak on Ngannou’s chances of an upset against Fury.

“It is more likely for Francis to beat Fury than it is for Francis with zero experience, at least 37 years of age with very little contacts and a bum knee over in Las Vegas to get the fight with Fury. He’s already done the hard part,” Sonnen stated. “He already did the part that is more unlikely. So sure he could beat him. Why not?”

Chael Labels Fury A ‘Scumbag’ And A ‘Bully’

Sonnen doesn’t think too highly of Fury for taking a fight with the debuting Ngannou, especially when there are others such as Oleksandr Usyk (Usyk is booked but you get the point) and Andy Ruiz Jr., who have tons of experience in the ring unlike ‘The Predator’.

“What kind of a what kind of a scumbag is Fury though, man?” Sonnen asked. “I mean, I really gotta tell you, Fury broke my heart. I’ve liked this guy and I like the entertainment. I like so many things about him… You take a guy like Fury, who God made huge, gave great coaches, great training partners, great experiences to, he has weapons and tools that other men can’t deal with if they’re not armed. And he’s gonna choose to use those to beat up a guy who’s at least 37 with no experience and is on one leg.

“That’s a bully and it’s a scumbag,” Sonnen said of Fury. “I would never do that to somebody. “I’m sure [Fury will make a lot of money fighting Ngannou], Jesse James made a lot of money and there’s hitmen that made a lot of money. I mean, there’s things that you can do, but own it. You’re a bully and you’re a scumbag.”
