Sean Strickland is claiming that a UFC 293 showdown against Israel Adesanya appears to be out of the question.

Adesanya recently posted a video message on social media claiming that Dricus du Plessis won’t be ready by September to fight him due to a foot injury. After du Plessis defeated Robert Whittaker, the plan was for him to meet Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight Championship in Australia.

In the clip, Adesanya declared that du Plessis was out, but Strickland was in. Since that video was uploaded, Strickland has said he wants to be paid what he feels is his fair share for the title fight. Well, it appears the UFC isn’t down with that idea if Strickland is to be believed.

Sean Strickland Not UFC 293 Bound?

Sean Strickland recently hopped on Twitter and responded to a fan. The number six-ranked UFC middleweight insisted that it doesn’t look like he’ll be fighting “Izzy” this September.

Sean Strickland Tweet

“UFC don’t want it.. sorry man.”

Strickland went on to say that he feels the UFC made a mistake with its upcoming pay-per-view in Sydney by not having the main event set by now.

“I will say it is wild they are having a card like that and don’t have a headline 6 weeks out. Someone at the UFC really dropped the ball on this…”

Strickland responded to another fan who questioned what the UFC is going to do. The 185-pounder said that, simply put, he doesn’t feel it’s a fight the promotion wants to book right now.

“I mean I’m a grown ass man. I’d fight him right after my last fight if you pay me. I don’t think the UFC wants it soooo burgers for me..”

It’ll be interesting to see what direction UFC 293 takes as far as the headliner is concerned. Stick with MiddleEasy for the latest news on plans for the card.
