  • Sean Strickland criticized UFC 294’s Khamzat Chimaev vs. Kamaru Usman
  • “Tarzan” wants the UFC to release Paulo Costa

Reigning UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland shared his honest thoughts on the upcoming UFC 294 bout between Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev. He also thinks that the UFC should already get rid of Paulo Costa.

Kamaru is just after the money

Speaking on his YouTube channel, “Tarzan” echoed Chimaev’s claim that Usman only took the short notice fight because of money. For Strickland, it’s clear that Chimaev vs. Usman doesn’t make any sense and the UFC just needed to have a big-name replacement to keep the show going. Strickland also thinks “Borz” will beat “The Nigerian Nightmare.”

“Here’s the thing, Usman is not in a camp, Chimaev has been bulking to middleweight, Usman took this fight for a paycheck,” Strickland speculated. “They [the UFC] said, ‘Hey, Usman. Here’s a couple of million. Do you want to take this fight? We’ll give it to you.’ Usman said, ‘I can’t say no. I’m going to do it.’ It’s a win-win for Usman. So, I think it doesn’t really count, because Chimaev has been training his d**k off and bulking up for middleweight, and then you have Usman who’s been like, ‘I’m going to take this and get a paycheck.’ To me, this is kind of a bullsh*t fight. They just needed to fill a seat, and I got Chimaev.”

“170, full camp, I got Usman. 170, full camp, five rounds, Usman. Three rounds, coming off the f**king couch, I got Chimaev,” he added.

Kamaru is probably making 1.5M for UFC 294

In typical Strickland fashion, the champ also shared how things played out when the UFC called up Usman to replace Costa on short notice.

“Let me give you inner workings of the UFC, Usman’s probably on the couch you know, f**king off, playing video games… UFC calls him and probably says, ‘Hey, we need to fill a slot,’ Usman says, ‘F**k you.’ The UFC says we’ll pay you 700k flat, Usman’s like ‘F**k you’ and I’m sure it’s probably about a mill, one to 1.5 [million] they offered Usman to get the f**k off a couch get a plane ticket and then go to Abu Dhabi,” Strickland said.

Costa is done

On the other hand, Costa recently revealed how serious his staph infection is to make it clear that he did not intend to pull out from UFC 294. However, Strickland doesn’t seem to care about Costa’s reason and thinks that “Borrachinha” deserves to be cut by the UFC already.

“They need to f**king cut Costa,” Strickland suggested. “Costa, dude, like, again you are such a f**king cunt I mean, at this point.”

Chimaev vs. Usman is one of the most highly-anticipated matches at UFC 294. However, there is no guarantee that the winner will be Strickland’s next challenger or will get a title shot in the welterweight division.
