Brendan Schaub Believes Adesanya Will “Light Up” Paulo Costa
Israel Adesanya is one of the most confident fighters that we’ve ever seen grace the UFC octagon. And as much belief that Izzy has, he has the technical skill to back up his words. Before Israel beat Robert Whittaker, he did an interview saying that he would pick apart Rob quite easily. Now, Adesanya has made a believer in Brendan Schaub. Schaub believes that Stylebender is going to light up his next opponent, Paulo Costa.
Schaub was on his Below The Belt podcast when the topic of Israel Adesanya arrived. Not only does Brendan believe that Israel will beat Costa, but he also believes he will be champion for a pretty long time.

“I know Paulo Costa is next,” said Schaub. “Looking at the division I think Stylebender’s gonna be champ for a long time. And, this is why the UFC is gonna grab onto the back of his shoulders and ride him to the f*cking moon. Cause they need the big star. You’re gonna see him on all this marketing and media and the face of the UFC,” finished Brendan.
While Schaub believes in the marketing abilities of Adesanya, he also believes in the abilities he possesses as a fighter. So much so, that he believes the fight against Costa will highlight the skillset that Israel occupies.
“When you talk about X’s and O’s and execution and fundamentals, Stylebender’s gonna piece him (Costa) up,” declared Schaub. “Here’s what else is interesting about the Paulo Costa fight. Costa has a phenomenal chin. Stylebender is gonna light him up like a Brazilian Christmas tree and you’re gonna see the skillset of Stylebender in that fight.”
Making the Fight
While the title fight hasn’t been officially announced yet, Dana White has already confirmed that Costa will be Adesanya’s first title defense. Although there is no set date or venue, both camps have initiated talks into getting the deal complete. Speculation points to the fight happening around early March of 2020.
With so much animosity built between the two, Adesanya’s first title defense should be fireworks. Expect a large promotional build-up when this fight is officially announced.
