- Rizin’s Vugar Karamov suffered a one-of-a-kind title fight KO loss to Chihiro Suzuki at Rizin FF – Landmark Vol. 7
- Suzuki previously KO’d Pitbull Freire
The recent Rizin FF – Landmark Vol. 7 event held in Baku, Azerbaijan owns one of the most unconventional yet stunning knockouts in MMA history. In the main event, Chihiro Suzuki dethroned the now-former featherweight champion Vugar Karamov with an upkick followed by a barrage of punches.
Nobody saw it coming
Suzuki came in well aware of Karamov’s impressive finishing abilities, especially on the ground. In less than two minutes in the very first round, Suzuki found himself in a dangerous situation as Karamov ended up on top of him during a grappling contest. Somehow, Suzuki managed to land a devastating upkick that quickly left the reigning champ unconscious while still on top.
Nobody, not even Suzuki, noticed that Karamov was already knocked out cold. Hence, Suzuki threw about 20 more lightning quick punches on Karamov, who has already been unconscious.
Finally, the referee in charge realized that Karamov was no longer responsive and decided to stop the fight. Suzuki was then declared the winner via KO.

A spectacular championship journey
Suzuki’s win over Karamov saw him becoming Rizin’s new featherweight champion. Prior to that, Suzuki secured the biggest win of his Rizin career as he knocked out former Bellator champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire at Rizin 2 despite only being a replacement opponent.
As it stands, Suzuki now has a 12-3-1 pro MMA record. On the other hand, Karamov failed to prolong his four-fight winning streak and now has a 19-5 pro MMA record.
