Randy Couture Says Khabib’s Fighting Style Could Give McGregor Troubles

Randy Couture Belives Khabib’s Fighting Style Is Enough To Give Conor Mcgregor Trouble Inside The Octagon

Former two division champion returns to UFC Octagon to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title in the main headliner of UFC 229 from inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 6.

Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Randy Couture who recently spoke with MMAJunkie, where he praised Khabib Nurmagomedov and said Russian’s fighting style is more than enough to pose a threat to Conor McGregor.

“Not only does he not run his mouth and all the extracurricular stuff, but he’s got that grinding style that was kind of my forte,” Couture said. “So, I like the way he fights. Some people don’t like the way he fights – I think he’s brilliant.

“I think he’s exactly the type of fighter that’s going to give Conor McGregor trouble. We’ve seen that a little bit with Chad Mendes. We saw it a little bit with Nate Diaz – that style that forces him to fight on the ground off his back potentially is a style that’s going to give him trouble.”

McGregor is a classic striker, and has powerful left hands, with dangerous knees and elbows. Russian is a most dominant grappler with the first goal in mind to put his foes down and doesn’t let them up. McGregor showed his weakness to jiu-jitsu in his loss to Nate Diaz, while Khabib showed some vulnerability in his last win against Al Iaquinta. So the game could turn to either fighters side if one manages to show strength and pressure.

Randy who admires Khabib and his fight game believes he is the one who can give Mcgregor problems.

McGregor who never lost a title in a fight but stripped of both the featherweight title and the lightweight title due to inactivity. In his absence, Khabib went on to claim the lightweight title after beating the short notice Al Iaquinta at UFC 223.

In the meantime, Mcgregor faced legal troubles due to his bus rampage he caused at UFC 223 media day back in April.

Former champion also offers some kind words to Mcgregor’s impressive game in Octagon but isn’t a fan of Irishman’s outside the cage antics.

“(McGregor’s) fighting style and his ability to back it up in the cage speaks for itself,” he said. “He does some very dynamic things. Some of the things he does using his range and accuracy is impressive. He does a good job. I’m just not a fan of all that other crap.”

Do you agree with Randy Couture’s assessment of Khabib can give Mcgregor trouble due to his fight style?
