Aljamain Sterling crosses paths with Petr Yan again. The two bantamweights will look to unify their titles in the co-main event of UFC 273.
Round 1:
Petr Yan stalks Aljamain Sterling with constant pressure. Sterling attempts a takedown but Yan stuffs it with ease. Yan lands a quick and nasty body kick. Both men swing for the fences late in the round. They clinch momentarily, Yan lands some strikes up top.
Round 2:
Yan lands a body kick. Sterling shoots for a takedown, but it’s denied. Sterling eventually gets it, getting the back of Yan. Yan fights the hands of Sterling, not letting him strangle him with a choke. Sterling lands some good ground and pound as he flattens Yan.
Sterling finishes the round with dominant control of Yan.
Round 3:
Yan spams kicks to the body and legs of Sterling. ‘Funkmaster’ shoots for two takedowns but is unable to get it. Sterling finally gets Yan down to the ground. Sterling has full control with a locked in body triangle. Not much is done in this position but Sterling tangles up Yan on the ground. The Russian simply can’t rush out.
Round 4:
Yan stings Sterling with strikes. Yan’s striking looks phenomenal as he stuffs Sterling’s takedown attempts. Yan gets top control on Sterling this time around. Yan lands a few punches from top to finish the round.
Round 5:
Sterling goes for a takedown but Yan denies it. Sterling goes for another one but Yan presses towards the fence in an attempt to get back up and so he does. Yan lands a knee on Sterling! He follows up on strikes. Sterling goes for a takedown but Yan reverses position, getting the back of Sterling. They both get up. Sterling keeps going for takedown but Yan denies every time. Yan finishes the fight on the back of Sterling.
