  • Joe Rogan said Paige VanZant could incur brain damage from slap fighting
  • “12 Gauge” was happy to let everybody know that she didn’t suffer any serious injuries after her Power Slap debut as opposed to what Rogan said

Paige VanZant disagreed with Joe Rogan’s take on her decision to pursue slap fighting.

Joe feared for Paige

Upon learning that “12 Gauge” will make her Power Slap debut, Rogan shared his honest thoughts on the subject and advised VanZant not to continue with it. As per the UFC commentator, VanZant could face irreversible side effects from getting slapped hard such as brain damage.

“It’s free brain damage like, you could hit someone so hard with a slap because everybody thinks of a slap as like the palm in the face. That is not what’s happening. You’re getting palm striked in the face, full blast, from a full swing,” Rogan said on JRE.

Paige proved Joe wrong

As expected, VanZant carried on and competed at Power Slap. To everyone’s surprise, the former UFC star dominated her opponent Christine Wolmarans, even dropping her twice in the match.

Speaking to Nina Drama, VanZant enthusiastically pointed out that she didn’t suffer a brain damage or any of the sort.

“Honestly, for me, like coming into this [fight], people were talking about how crazy it is, and they’re trying to say that this is stupid, but I took zero brain damage in the entire fight camp leading up to this,” VanZant said.

VanZant hasn’t fought in MMA for a while but prior to her Power Slap debut, “12 Gauge” fought Elle Brooke to a split draw in a boxing match at the MF & DAZN X Series 15.
