On Saturday night, former UFC fighter turned BKFC brawler Paige VanZant made her professional boxing debut, challenging Misfits Boxing middleweight champion Elle Brooke at MF & DAZN: X Series 15.
With an 8-5 record in mixed martial arts and two bare-knuckle bouts under her belt, VanZant went into her sweet science debut with a significant advantage in experience over X-rated film star and online influencer Elle Brooke. Still, it would be foolish to count out the blonde bombshell.
Through five career fights, Brooke is a solid 4-1, her record including a stellar third-round KO against Andrea-Jane Bunker in January to claim the MF middleweight strap.
Round 1
VanZant looking to get her jab going as Brooke is moving well and attempting to duck her way inside. A right hand from VanZant lands. In close, a short right hook from Brooke lands. Less than a minute in, both women start to let their hands go. Brooke lands another solid right hand but eats the return fire from PVZ. Brooke lands a clean right as VanZant moves in and ’12 Gauge’ goes down.
VanZant answers the referee’s count, but the bell sounds before Brooke can move in and capitalize.
Round 2
VanZant again comes out working her jab as Brookes brings some pressure. A stiff jab from VanZant lands. PVZ rushes in and Brooke ties up. VanZant lands a nice left hook on her way up. Brooke comes back with a left of her own. PVZ appears to catch Brooke with a left that has the influencer reeling. VanZant with a right hand and Brooke is looking a little worse for wear with 20 seconds to go.
Brooke responds with a couple of nice jabs and closes the round with a short left that lands, but with little power behind it.
Round 3
VanZant continues to land with her jab at Brooke looks to land the big right hand. VanZant lands a couple of big shots to the body, but VanZant is outworking her. Brooke appears to be having some issues with the reach advantage of VanZant, but she lands to the body followed by a right hand up top. VanZant is landing more, but Brooke is scoring the bigger strikes.
Another big right hand from Brooke lands. With 10 seconds left, Brooke blasts PVZ with a left-right combination that knocks VanZant’s head around. ’12 Gauge’ tries to respond, but the bell sounds before she can give Brooke her receipt.
Round 4
Brooke is moving well in the fourth round, ducking under VanZant’s jabs and attacking the body of her opponent. VanZant lands a left followed by a short combination, but Brooke comes back with a powerful right. A straight left hand from Brooke lands. VanZant lands an uppercut in the clinch and Brooke is now bleeding out of her nose. The two tie up and trade blows in the clinch as the fourth round ends.
Round 5
With the fight potentially tied up, both women come out swinging. VanZant lands a left that catches Brooke clean. Brooke fires back with a solid right hand. Brooke again throws a heavy right hook that connects as VanZant continues to throw potshots with little power behind them.
VanZant lands a left on the inside as Brooke attempts to work the body before being separated by the referee. With 20 seconds left in the fight, Brooke again goes to the right hand that connects. VanZant closes the distance and throws uppercuts to the body as the final bell sounds.
Official Result: Elle Brooke vs. Paige VanZant is ruled a split draw (48-46, 46-48, 47-47)
