- Sean O’Malley has accused Conor McGregor of only picking opponents he thinks are easier to beat
- “Sugar” said fighters and fans should appreciate “The Notorious” while he’s still here
As expected, the spotlight is on Conor McGregor once again as the MMA community awaits his highly-anticipated UFC return. Many thought that Michael Chandler is a perfect opponent for the former two-division champion because both fighters are explosive but the way Sean O’Malley sees it, McGregor figured Chandler is easier than the others.
A cherry-picker
Speaking on his BrOMalley show, “Sugar” said he knows McGregor is a smart fighter and has been cherry-picking easy opponents his entire career. And if Chandler is on the slate, it only means “The Notorious” thinks he could beat him.
“Connor, and rightfully so, only fights people he sees himself beating… he’s like, ‘I know I can beat this guy.’ He’s fighting Michael Chandler for a reason… Michael Chandler’s dangerous though do not count that motherf**ker out,” O’Malley speculated.
Prior to being appointed as Chandler’s rival coach at The Ultimate Fighter Season 31, McGregor has evidently been jacked. O’Malley said it’s clear that “The Notorious” is on some banned substance but no matter which division he fights for, there will always be exciting matchups for him.
“Will [McGregor] get the title shot? It’s hard to say… He’s on sh*t obviously, it’s not a f**king surprise. It’s clear. He looks like that’s what TJ Dillashaw is doing. It looks like that might be what Darren Till’s doing retiring… Regardless, [I’m] excited to watch him fight… Even Gaethje versus Connor, there’s fights at 55, if he can even get down to 55 anymore,” O’Malley added.
Appreciate Conor McGregor while he lasts
O’Malley also implied that nobody knows when would McGregor hang the gloves so, as much as possible, fans should appreciate him while he lasts.
“We just got to appreciate him when he fights because we don’t know how many more fights he has. We got to appreciate Connor while we have him. Dude is a living legend in the sport and we gotta each fight you know, be grateful for,” O’Malley said of McGregor.
McGregor will face Chandler in the season finale of TUF 31. He recently hinted after Chandler, he might shoot his shot at the welterweight title. While everything seems plausibale, “The Notorious” would also have to deal with USADA, on the other hand.
