UFC 254 Results: Khabib Nurmagomedov Sleeps Justin Gaethje, Announces His Retirement! (Highlights)

Lightweight greatness is at stakes tonight. UFC 254 is nearly over but the main event is what we were all waiting for. The undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) is back in action and putting his title on the line. Against him “The Highlight” Justin Gaethje (22-2) looks to defeat the most dominant fighter in the world and sit on the throne.

Round 1

Both fighters come out in the orthodox position. Gaethje takes the center of the cage. Leg kick blocked by Nurmagomedov. Leg kick lands for Gaethje but Nurmagomedov lands a big right hand. Jab lands for Nurmagomedov, Gaethje comes back with a leg kick. Nurmagomzdov looks to pressure Gaethje and he lands a body kick. Gaethje lands a right hand.

Body kick and jab lands for Nurmagomedov, he then lands a knee. Both fighters land in the pockets. Nurmagomedov keeps pressuring Gaethje and he lands a right hand. Nurmagomedov gets a takedown with 40 seconds remaining. Nurmagomedov gets into the mount position, he goes for a submission as the round ends.

Round 2

Right hand lands for Gaethje. Nurmagomedov lands a combination and a leg kick. Left hand lands for Gathje, he then lands another leg kick. Nurmagomedov gets a takedown and gets back into the full mount. Nurmagomedov transitions into a triangle and Gaethje taps but the referee doesn’t see it. Gaethje goes out and the fight is over!!!

“Today I want to say this was my last fight,” Khabib said. “No way I’m going to come here without my father. It was first time after what happened with my father, when UFC called me about Justin, I talk with my mother three days. She doesn’t want me to go fight without my father but I promised her it was going to be my last fight.

“If I give my word, I have to follow this. It was my last fight here.”
