After Mike Perry fought out his UFC deal he decided to sign with BKFC which didn’t surprise many.
Perry has always been a brawler and in BKFC, he has had immediate success. In bare-knuckle, he is 3-0 and beat Julian Lane by decision in his debut and then picked up a decision win over Michael Page in his next fight. The third time out, Perry scored a second-round TKO over Luke Rockhold and has become the face of BKFC.
Although Perry doesn’t have the belt, he is enjoying his time in BKFC as he says bare-knuckle is a real fight to him, which is why he decided to transition to the sport.
“You know, it’s just a real fight to me. I still go to the gym and I do MMA with the guys. I love boxing so much though, it’s my forte. It’s like what I’m good at, cause I’m cool to take a punch, get hit, that’s fine,” Perry said on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “I’ll take a hit to land a better one on you. In bare-knuckle, I mean there’s a lot of opportunity to fight guys. I did fight Julian Lane who did have experience in it, he had nine fights in it when we fought, then I fought two guys who hadn’t done it yet.”
Perry calls out McGregor
After his most recent win, Mike Perry called out Conor McGregor and the Irishman went into the ring and the two had a faceoff. Although McGregor is under UFC contract, Perry thinks if the fight happens it could approach two million pay-per-view buys.
The megastar’s surprise appearance at BKFC was a huge moment, grabbing the attention of the combat sports world. McGregor’s previous ventures outside the UFC, like his boxing match against Mayweather, have made him no stranger to high-profile fights.
“I stood so still and I couldn’t waver or move, he is moving all over the place which says he’s free in that moment to do so, obviously. It was me respectfully calling him out which shows the professional in martial arts that I have been for so many years. How do you call a man out in a sport that he has a family and you guys want to hurt each other and they can honor it in a fair way and promote it to be entertaining?.. It’s a great fight man, it would be cool,” Perry added.
“I mean, everything he does people watch that s***. So, it was great to have him there. It really boosted the moment for me.”
Yet, with McGregor under contract with the UFC, Mike Perry knows the fight likely won’t happen. With that, he is just looking to get back in there and continue his success in BKFC.
