  • Michael Jai White explained why he is certain no fighter could get the better of Jon Jones and “Bones” is like Floyd Mayweather
  • The martial arts movie star thinks Jones will be more dominant in the heavyweight division

Famous martial artist and action movie star Michael Jai White admitted that initially, he felt like Ciryl Gane would be Jon Jones’ toughest opponent. He also shared how he sees “Bones” fairing against heavyweight fighters.

Nobody could beat Jon

Speaking to Vlad TV, White reiterated that he has already hailed Jones as MMA’s GOAT long ago but he was once sold on the idea that Gane had the repertoire to become Jones’ “hardest fight.” However, “Bones” only proved that nobody could stop him even in the heavyweight division.

“I said that [Jones is the greatest MMA fighter of all time] a long time ago]. There’s no excuse. There’s no kinda argument against that, the people want to hate. The PEDs, yeah the PEDs make you have good timing and no, I’m sorry, they don’t. But, I don’t really wanna go into that. And I think, I don’t know who’s gonna beat him. I felt like Ciryl Gane had the skills to be his hardest fight and you see how that turned out. Because, I mean, Jon grabs somebody, forget it… I tried to grapple with that dude, it’s like trying to uproot a tree.”

White went on and likened Jones’ mental game to that of Floyd Mayweather.

“But this [the mind] is the thing, just like with Floyd Mayweather. He is way ahead of it. You know how calm he is in the ring? Like, from the first time I saw him, I swear my wife was watching with me, I said, ‘Nobody’s beating that guy’ Because I just saw how calm he was and how he would see the openings. He’d see things from different angles and he moved with a natural ability.”

An even easier weight class

Some say Jones is set to face the toughest challenges of his career in the heavyweight division but White begged to disagree. For White, the heavyweight is an even easier weight class for “Bones.”

“I knew from from day one I’m like nobody [is beating him]. He’s got all the components and now in heavyweight, I don’t see anybody [beating him]. I think it’s going to be easier for him in heavyweight,” White speculated.

Jones, who became the new UFC heavyweight champion after submitting Gane at UFC 285, is already set to take on Stipe Miocic. UFC president Dana White is looking to make it happen sometime in November at the Madison Square Garden.

Previously, “Bones” admitted that he is likely to consider retirement after beating Miocic but only a fight with Francis Ngannou could delay it.
