- Michael Chandler credits Conor McGregor’s photography team for his bulky physique on social media
- “Iron” thinks “Notorious” has been back in training as of late
Michael Chandler he could fight Conor McGregor at any weight class is he is convinced that “Notorious” is not as big as he looks in photos.
Chandler says he’s bigger than Conor
Speaking to Steve-O’s Wilderide podcast, Chandler said he was prompted to call McGregor out at 170 because the former UFC two-division champ looked big on social media. However, McGregor once said that he is planning to move up to middleweight.
Chandler said he wasn’t bothered by what weight class “Notorious” wants to fight at as he noticed that in person, McGregor isn’t that big and bulky. For “Iron,” McGregor’s photography team has just been doing a great job with the angles.
“I said I wanted to fight him at 170 because he was so big… he was big, he was beefy… he was really really big so I was like. ‘Okay there’s no way he’s going to fight at 155.’ I don’t want to fight at 155. I weigh like 190, I would love to fight at 170 so I figured I’d call him out at 170,” Chandler explained.
“Conor likes to act like he’s in control so he could have said [he wants to fight at] 205 and I would been like, ‘Okay. I’ll fight you wherever dude.’ Cause truly, I’m bigger than Conor. He’s not that big at all. He looks big, he’s got really great angles and really great camera photography work and lighting in all of his photos and stuff,” he added.
Conor is back in training
Judging by how McGregor appears to be in his most recent posts, Chandler thinks that “Notorious” looks like he’s been back in training. With that in mind, Chandler is still baffled by what’s delaying their highly-anticipated fight.
“He looks like he’s training a lot,” Chandler said of McGregor. “That’s the thing. Whether he’s is training just for those 15 seconds and puts out a clip or he’s training for hours, he looks like he’s training and he’s getting in better shape so I don’t know what the holdup is, Conor.”
Chandler has been waiting for the final word on his bout with McGregor, which was supposed to take place in the season finale of TUF 31. UFC president Dana White previously said Chandler is willing to wait as long as it takes until “Notorious” gets everything done on his end.
As it stands, Chandler said he was told that the fight will finally happen in the first quarter of next year.
