  • “The Count” predicted that “Poatan” will just rest for a while but will call for a trilogy fight soon

Now former middleweight champion Alex Pereira got knocked out and dethroned by Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. The biggest question now is whether he would opt for a third fight or move on from their long-standing rivalry.

For Michael Bisping, if “Poatan” should ever consider running it back, he must make sure he draws the people’s attention.

It should be loud

Speaking on his Bisping and Smith’s BYM podcast, “The Count” pointed out that it would be difficult for Pereira to convince people that he deserves a rematch against Izzy, especially with the way he got knocked out. The only way to get it back is to “make some noise” and see to it that the fans will be interested once again.

“It will be very telling if Pereira is not making the noise for the rematch because as we said before it’s not easy to come back when you’ve been knocked out and not have a warm-up fight and a tune-up fight and get your feels back, get your mojo back to just say, ‘No, no, no, no, I want you again. I don’t care. Yeah, you knocked me out, that won’t happen next time. You got lucky.’ However you come to terms with it, however you deal with it that’s on you,” Bisping explained.

He continued, “It’s going to be interesting to see if Pereira’s making noise pretty soon and say, ‘Hold on let’s run it back.’ If he doesn’t make noise and ask for it, if his team, his management, his fans, if they’re not all making noise and campaigning on social media well then of course it just moves on and maybe goes to 205 or whatever. But he has to make noise. He has to say listen, ‘Do the right thing.’ But if he doesn’t, that’s on him, I guess.”

There’s gonna be a trilogy

Bisping concluded that if he was in Pereira’s shoes, he would just take some time off but he would surely call for a third fight with Adesanya.

“He’s gonna make some noise. I would. He’s probably gonna fly back down to Brazil, take a little time, I don’t know if he’s very active on social media but [he would],” the Brit added.

Pereira addressed his fans following his tough loss to Adesanya but has yet to express a strong desire to do it again for the third time. As for Izzy, aspiring next title challengers have now lined up but the champ seems interested in taking on No. 6 contender Dricus du Plessis.
