- Michael Bisping ignored Bryce Mitchell’s request to pray inside the octagon during his post-win interview
- “The Count” was criticized online and gave one fan a surprising response
Michael Bisping is under fire on social media after refusing to proceed and letting Bryce Mitchell pray during his Octagon interview. To everyone’s surprise, “The Count” replied to one of the fans who criticized him online.
Things got Awkward
Mitchell has been known in the UFC for saying and doing weird stuff. However, he won the hearts of MMA fans because of his rawness and undeniable fighting skills. At UFC Vegas 79, “Thug Nasty” did exactly what was expected from him. This time, he came in like a preacher and was genuinely showing his religious side.
Mitchell went on and beat Dan Ige via unanimous decision and things got awkward between him and Bisping during his Octagon interview. Mitchell began by announcing that he would donate $5,000 to the victims of the fire in Hawaii, Ige’s homeland. He then requested to pray with Ige and everybody in attendance but Bisping paused in silence before carrying on to end the interview.

A backlash and a response from Bisping
As expected, Bisping’s reaction to Mitchell’s request resulted in quite a backlash. Some online MMA fans voiced their disappointment over how “The Count” handled the situation.
Normally, Bisping would just let this type of stuff slide but surprisingly, he gave an epic response to one of them.
“I know they have a time thing but to not allow a prayer is ridiculous. Not sure if that was Bisping or producers telling him but that shouldn’t have happened. If he doesn’t want to talk about the fight but Christ they should let him,” the fan wrote.
“Christ? Please don’t take the lord’s name in vain,” Bisping replied.

As it stands, Mitchell has now returned to the win column. He previously said that he wants to have a rematch with Ilia Topuria as he believes it’s unfair to fight with the flu.
