Michael Bisping is a fan of Tony Ferguson working with David Goggins ahead of his UFC 296 fight against Paddy Pimblett.
Ferguson enters his fight against Pimblett on a six-fight losing skid and coming off a submission loss to Bobby Green. During his losing skid, Ferguson has looked like he lost a step and because of that has started to work with Goggins.
Recently, Paddy Pimblett came out and said he didn’t understand why Tony Ferguson would work with David Goggins. However, Michael Bisping says it is a smart move for Ferguson.
Bisping likes Ferguson working with Goggins
“When you look at the match-up, I think Tony’s gonna be stronger, I think Tony’s gonna be fitter, he’s been working with David Goggins, and Paddy doesn’t really understand that, he says ‘Why is he working with David Goggins?’ He doesn’t need to work on his cardio, he needs to work on his defense, he needs to work on his wrestling, he needs to work on his jiu-jitsu, and I agree. Techinally, or cardio-wise David Goggins is probably going to be a bit overkill,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel.
“When it comes to Tony, Goggins is going to work on this (points to his head). He’s gonna work on the mind, he’s gonna build that mental confidence, okay? And that’s what fighters need. Once that goes, it’s out the window. So, the mind. There is a reason why David Goggins was in the corner of Jon Jones first time he came back in three years when he fought Ciryl Gane. David Goggins is an expert in motivational speaking,” Bisping continued.
Although Michael Bisping is a fan of Tony Ferguson working with David Goggins ahead of UFC 296, ‘El Cucuy’ is still a sizeable underdog against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296.
It’s also a critical fight for Ferguson as if he loses, he likely will be released from the UFC.
