- Julianna Pena dissed Mayra Bueno Silva on social media
- “Sheetara” responded and called for a title fight between her and “The Venezuelan Vixen”
Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Pena took a dig at Mayra Bueno Silva following her upset submission win over Holly Holm at UFC on ESPN 49. Now, the Brazilian hit back and wants to challenge “The Venezuelan Vixen” for the vacant bantamweight title.
No respect when it comes to a title Fight
On Twitter, Pena wrote:
“Did I hear someone say the name of the #peopleschamp? Perfect. Get in line. I’ll do you and Raquel in the same night. Who else wants a beating?”

During her UFC on ESPN 49 press conference, Silva was quizzed to comment on Pena’s tweet. According to “Sheetara,” she has the utmost respect for the former champ. However, none of that will be taken into account once the UFC book them for a title fight.
“Haha! She’s scared. She’s funny. OK, I love you Julianna, but I will smash you. I will smash you… Look [at] my fight. Look [at] your fight. Who win? Oh, Julianna, shut up!.. Juliana, I respect you but I will smash you,” Silva said.
Mayra feels she deserves It
The massive win over Holm saw Silva complete a four-fight winning streak. Hence, “Sheetara” will break into the women’s bantamweight division’s Top 5, possibly making her a title fight candidate.
When asked if she thinks she deserves it, Silva confidently said yes. As for facing either Pena or Raquel Pennington, the Brazilian claimed that “Rocky” already refused to fight her in the past so she would be prioritizing “The Venezuelan Vixen” instead.
“I think so… I have the most finishes in this division in the UFC, I have a lot of performance of the night, I am [the] new face,” Silva said.
“I can’t know because UFC give the chance for a fight with me but she don’t want now I think if she don’t want now it’s Juliana Pena… Julianna deserve [it], I deserve and then we’ll see. Let’s go,” she added.
Pena and Pennington are widely believed to be the two favorites to fight for the bantamweight title vacated by Amanda Nunes. But with Silva seemingly becoming the third wheel, things could get even more interesting in the division.
