Jorge Masvidal wants to see ‘the battle of the baddest’ ran back.

Just last week, Francis Ngannou shocked the world with a spectacular performance over Tyson Fury, one that saw the ex-UFC Champion knock down the boxing king in the third round.

‘Damn That Was Impressive’

While Ngannou surely had his moments in his pro boxing debut, Fury would keep his undefeated record in a very controversial split decision victory.

Even in a closely-contested defeat, ‘The Predator’ impressed a lot of people around the world. That includes the first-ever BMF Champion Masvidal, who admittedly had his doubts on Ngannou before the crossover boxing match.

“I was definitely surprised for many factors,” Masvidal told Middle Easy. “I thought Tyson would just be able to take him into the seventh, eighth round and up and beat him and drown him, because it’s his world. I didn’t give him Ngannou a chance pass the eighth. I never would’ve betted that.

“Wow, my hat is off to that man, because damn, that was impressive. That he could just make it to the 12th round was impressive. Taking away anything, had he thrown a punch, landed a knockdown, anything, let’s just take all that away. He got to the 12th round with Tyson Fury. The fuck’s going [on]? This guy’s just different man, just a different type of f*cking athlete, man. It’s insane.”

‘In Many Ways He Won The Fight’

Despite being 0-1 officially, Masvidal says Ngannou won in more ways than one.

So, now you add in that he knocked him down, that he hurt him to the body, that he got elbowed and walked right through it. In many ways he won the fight,” Masvidal added.

“We all know that for ages, boxing— the judges are not the most enlightened dudes on the planet and it’s a lot of shadiness going on. I feel like on a different night, he should have got that decision. But, knowing that it’s boxing, knowing that they’re not gonna give a (loss) for the first time ever in his career to the biggest name in boxing currently, you know?”

Masvidal: ‘Fury Has A Legit Problem’ If He Were To Fight Ngannou Again

After their super-fight in Saudi Arabia, both Fury and Ngannou will probably end up fighting someone else before a potential rematch in the future. Fury’s got Oleksandr Usyk in his sights and Ngannou has a plethora of opponents he could meet either in the ring or the PFL cage.

Masvidal, for one, is hopeful that the rubber match will take place sometime down the line. Should it happen, ‘Gamebred’ thinks ‘The Gypsy King’ has got his hands full with new rival Ngannou.

“I think it does set up for an amazing rematch,” Masvidal said of Fury vs. Ngannou. “Like now, I’m more interested to see the rematch than ever, because you give Ngannou six months, the fuck’s gonna happen? What’s gonna come out of that? Six months of that guy training for Tyson Fury. again with all the experience and confidence that he has now, I think Tyson Fury has a legit problem.

“Also, Tyson Fury is going to go back, make the adjustments, look at the tape. I think he’ll make the adjustments, he has to… he’s a world champion. He’s f*cking amazing at what he does. But, I would like to see the rematch. Going into the first one, I was completely for Tyson. Going into the second one, I’m not so sure, man.”
