Sean O’Malley is feeling confident ahead of his rematch with Marlon Vera.

It was recently announced that O’Malley vs. Vera 2 will be headlining UFC 299 on March 9. O’Malley’s UFC Bantamweight Championship will be at stake. He’ll be looking to avenge the lone loss of his pro MMA career, as Vera scored a first-round TKO victory against him back in August 2020.

This will be O’Malley’s first UFC title defense. He captured the gold back in August, stopping Aljamain Sterling via second-round TKO.

Sean O’Malley Predicts Outcome Of “Chito” Vera Rematch

Appearing on the “FLAGRANT” podcast, Sean O’Malley said that while he expects “Chito” to be a tough out, he thinks he’ll get the finish.

“I’ll knock him out later in the fight,” O’Malley said. “He’s very durable, very tough.”

O’Malley then discussed what he thinks Vera’s strategy will be when the two share the Octagon a second time.

“He’s gonna try to kick my legs, but that’s kind of a lot of the guys’ game plan is kick my legs. I think he’s just gonna hope his cardio outlasts mine and just be durable and try to get a finish later in the fight probably will be his game plan.”

O’Malley On State Of Boxing

O’Malley is emerging as a top star for the UFC, but he has expressed interest in a mega fight with boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis. With that said, “Sugar” isn’t exactly a fan of the boxing industry.

“The UFC pays the lower guys more than the boxers pay the lower guys,” O’Malley said.

The topic of value for fans who purchase UFC events vs. those who pay to watch boxing shows was then brought up. O’Malley made his opinion of the sport quite clear.

“Boxing as a whole sucks,” O’Malley said.
